New widget allows you to share files

I love new gadgets, don’t you? The Box.net company has come up with the box.net widget, a widget you can plug in to your blog, MySpace, or anywhere else you like. I’m trying it out – see it down there on the bottom?

I like the concept, but it seems a bit hard to customize. I was able to change the color, file names, and title of my Box, but I couldn’t see how to resize it to fit properly on my sidebar. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that it’s probably just because it’s in Beta right now. Hopefully they’ll get those little kinks worked out soon enough.

Seems like a cool concept, though.

What do you think? Would you use something like this on your site?

It is really big but regardless I can see how this could be useful. I had a text doc on my blog that people needed to download to get some code and so many people didn't understand how to do that. Something like this widget would have been much easier than trying to explain over and over how to right-click and download a file.

You're right. That does seem like it would be easier. I just wish we could modify it more.
